Many Studios CIC was established in 2014 to provide a wide range of flexible and bright spaces that meets the varied needs of the creative industries in Glasgow and is now playing a major part in the regeneration of The Barras in the immediate East End of Glasgow.
A fully serviced suite of managed workspaces, shop front creative units, contemporary art galleries, multifunctional meeting rooms and event spaces are all designed not only to support creativity, innovation and commercial success but also be flexible enough to meet the ever-changing needs of the creative industries.
Many Studios is supported and guided by a board of experienced people. Their role is to advise on strategic and operational challenges and to help embed the organisation into the wider creative landscape and development plans across The Barras, Glasgow and beyond.
Our organisation does not only provide temporary and permanent creative workspaces, but also connects our tenants to international practice through The Gallow Gate; an international project space curated by Natalia Palombo which is challenging conventional models of creative practice and sustainability through established and recurring innovative creative relationships with organisations in countries such as Zimbabwe, South Africa and Pakistan. Locally, East End First Saturdays and Ross Street Market, our monthly culture festival and outdoor market, bring new audiences and entrepreneurial energy to The Barras whilst building unique partnerships that bolster footfall and grow the local economy.
Other key creative happenings in The Barras include Glasgow Collective, The Pipe Factory, St. Luke’s Church & The Winged Ox and Barras Art and Design Centre. Collectively these represent an exciting, vibrant and expanding creative and cultural cluster which recently hosted BBC6Music Festival and will stage major events for the 2018 European Games.
As a Community Interest Company (CIC), all surpluses are reinvested into supporting our tenants, maintaining our property and investing back into the creative industries. Many Studios has already achieved recognition as a model of best practice for successful growth and collaboration and was invited to join the European Creative Hubs Network in 2016.
